How To Become A Member of Our Church

Thanks for taking the time to find out more about OHBC! We encourage you to fully explore all the pages of our website to learn all about us. Be sure to click on the link to our Facebook page too. There you will find lots of pictures and posts about recent church events.

Another way to discover more about OHBC would be to join the next “Discovering Church Membership” class. That class is led by our Pastor during the Sunday School hour on Sunday mornings. Call the church office to find out more.

There are four basic ways a person can join Oak Hill Baptist Church:

  1. Make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and be baptized by full immersion water baptism. You need to make your profession of faith in Jesus public by responding to the public invitation issued by the Pastor at the end of each sermon.
  2. If you are already a Christian and have been a member of a Southern Baptist Church somewhere else, you can be accepted for membership at OHBC by transferring your membership letter from that sister church. Please respond to the invitation at the end of the sermon and tell the Pastor you would like to join our church.
  3. If you are already a Christian but were a member of a church from another denomination we still welcome you to join our Oak Hill family. Please make an appointment with the Pastor to discuss possible doctrinal differences that would need to be cleared up. Then, as long you are in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message (our statement of faith), and you have either been baptized by full immersion water baptism, or would be willing to be baptized, you can then become a member of our church.
  4. If you are already a Christian and have been baptized by full immersion water baptism, but the church you were previously a member of is no longer in existence, we will gladly accept you for membership based upon your statement of faith. Please schedule an appointment with the Pastor to discuss your background and to learn about the Baptist Faith and Message (our statement of faith).
